Astronomical observations I.

In this course we introduce the basic concepts of the "theory of observations". We speak about what we can learn from the brightness of stars (distance measurments), the most important optical phenomena and tools (how astronomical telescopes work), the most famous constellations, the celestial coordinate systems and how they are applied. The course is held in Hungarian.

Astronomical observations III.

In this course we keep introducing the basic concepts of the "theory of observations". We put the focus on the so-called two-body problem, i.e. how the planets move under the gravitational influence of the Sun. Doing calculations we get familiar with the most important notations and mathematical relations between them. The language of the course is Hungarian.

Astronomical observations II.

In this course we go deeper into the details of astrometrical coordinate systems: we start with learning the basics of spherical trigonometry and then apply it in converting the coordinates from one system to another, calculating the positions of objects on the celestial sphere, the time of their rise and set, etc. The language of the course is Hungarian.

Celestial mechanics I.

In this lecture we learn the basics of analytical mechanics, i.e. the principle of the least action, the Euler-Lagrange, the Hamiltonian and Hamilton-Jacobi equations, canonical constants and action-angle variables etc. We then apply these general results to the unperturbed and perturbed Kepler problem, deriving e.g. the Lagrangian planetary equations. The language of the course is Hungarian and the teaching is shared with Dr. Zsolt Sándor.
